The name STAEDTLER is closely linked to the history of Nuremberg and its pencils. In fact, long before 1835, the year in which Johann Sebastian Staedtler founded the pencil factory JS Staedtler in Nuremberg, operated as a penile manufacturer a distant ancestor, Friedrich Staedtler, mentioned in the books of the city history as early as 1662.
